Based on what I’ve been able to learn from various sources, I’m recommending:

1. People who don’t urgently need to go to Mexico should postpone their travel until more information is available.

2. Tamiflu should be prescribed to people who have the flu.  It is marginally effective at shortening the duration of illness if given in the first 24-49 hours.  I don’t recommend stockpiling it in case you need it.  One of the problems with the widespread use of antiviral drugs is that resistance develops.  This was evidenced by one of the strains circulating earlier in the year.

The CDC, Center for Disease Control, has a very good website for the public that I encourage you to check out for more information. http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/ website
